■ Hours/events: Wine Cruise, Summer hrs
Upcoming special event - Wine Cruise! Five of the
Bainbridge wineries will be pouring our wines on an
Argosy boat; leaving the downtown Winslow dock at 4:30pm
on Saturday August 19th, for a four hour tour about
Bainbridge. I (Mike) will be joined by my son Ellis
pouring your welcome-aboard sparkling wine. Get your
tickets
here.
[Note that we will be closing the
winery tasting area early (3pm) on Sat Aug 19 due to
the Wine Cruise.]
We are now on Summer hours:
Fri, Mon 11am-5pm
Sat, Sun 11am-6pm

is not convenient.
■ New releases, special
sales
We're down to the last few cases of
the Melon de Bourgogne 2018, will be
starting on the 2019, probably in a few
weeks.
I dropped in at Bay Hay here on
Bainbridge yesterday, and noticed that
they still have a few bottles of several
of the previous releases. if you really
loved the Lem 18, the Sprklng Sieg NV,
or several others, you can still get
them at Bay Hay. (We've been out at the
winery for a couple of months.)
We have special 3-pack sales on
several wines. The special price is
only for 3 bottles, no mix/match.
3x Melon 2018 $60
regular price $27/ea, so 3rd btl is only
$6
3x Siegerrebe 2018 $48
regular price $22/ea, so 3rd btl is only
$4
3x Plant-A-Tree 2020 $54
regular price $25/ea, so 3rd btl is only
$4
We are in the process of
changing over to online wine club
software, and are experiencing
some growing pains with the
changeover. Please bear with us,
and don't hesitate to
call/txt/email me with questions
or concerns.
Note that we don't have a
Summer Wine Club order, as shipped
wine can be ruined by heat in the
back of a UPS or FedEx truck.
If you're not already a member,
and are interested, our Wine Club
is free to join, with no penalty
fee to leave. All we ask is that
you purchase 12 btls per year.
All wine purchases are 20% off,
and you and your guests do not pay
tasting fees. We'll send you a
reminder 3x per year with
suggestions for 4 btls. Although
Covid-19 has made it difficult, we
hope to have special members-only
pickup events again in the
future. You can sign up at the
winery or send us an email.

■ Vineyard: Hedging, cluster
& leaf thinning
This time of year, the vineyard work is not so much
the big jobs, but is now the nit-picky optimizations.
We'll be hedging, which is where we trim off excess
length on the vines, which keeps the plant under
control, and helps the plant to focus on ripening the
existing fruit, instead of unchecked growth. We're also
reducing the cropload somewhat by simply cutting off
some of the clusters. This is essential on our new
block of Zweigelt as it will cause the plant to put it's
growth into the root structure instead of ripening
fruit. Melon here in the Puget Sound, has shown a
consistent pattern of overcropping, thus we have to
compensate by dropping some fruit. If you're interested
in learning about how to manage grapevines, consider

■ Needing Tasting area help
This year has been the busiest it's
ever been in my Tasting area. For
those of you who have visited, you may
have had an experience of myself with
no, or few, other customers. Over the
last several months I've had weekends
where all our tasting tables are full,
and I've been hard-pressed to keep up
with everyone's tastings. So I've
crossed the threshold - I need to have
help with tastings! If you'd be
interested in working with me in the
Tasting area on weekends, please reply
to this email and let me know.
